Mrs. Jennifer Williams
My name is Jennifer Williams, Student Services Coordinator, for the Cleveland Career Development & Technology Center. I am a native of Lyon, MS. I graduated from Delta State University in 2004 with a Bachelors of Business Administration in computer information systems, insurance and real estate. In 2009, I completed my Masters of Arts in Teaching degree from Delta State University. In 2011, I completed my Educational Specialist degree in Administration & Supervision. I have 16 years of instructional experience and I am certified to teach grades 7-12 in the areas of Teacher Academy, Business Education, and Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). In my 16 years of instructional experience, I have served in the capacity as a mentor teacher, classroom teacher, a member of the curriculum revision team and IAD team for Teacher Academy. In addition, I have been recognized as Teacher of the Year 2016-2017, 2018-2019, and the teacher with the highest state test scores at the Cleveland Career Development & Technology Center for five consecutive years. My first teaching position was at Robert L. Merritt Middle School where I taught Career Discovery, Computer Discovery, Technology Discovery, and STEM from 2006 – 2012. I am the mother of Kendrick Little, Jr.
My teaching philosophy is based on the quote made by John F. Kennedy at the 1963 commencement address at San Diego State College in which he stated, "All of us do not have equal talent, but all of us should have an equal opportunity to develop our talent." Each and every one of my students has the ability to be successful in their own way. As a teacher, it is my responsibility to develop each of their talents and allow them to build upon and express them. I make sure that every lesson is built on various instructional strategies in order to meet their needs. I am very aware that my students do not all learn in the same way and that differentiated instruction plays a major part in their success. I provide them with a rigorous classroom environment in which my level of expectation far exceeds the norm. I make them responsible for their thinking and actions so that they will one day be able to make sound decisions. I treat all of my students the same; I feel that each of them plays an equal part in the overall success in the class. Being that some of my students come from a life of poverty, it is my responsibility to make sure that poverty does not stop their success. I provide each of them with the necessary tools and resources to reach their potential. I consider my students family. I gain their respect and show them that I genuinely care about their well-being. Once that level of trust is established, I begin my journey of changing their lives and making a lasting impact. Since they are indeed the future, I want to make sure it is bright for each one of my students.
